PAINT PROTECTION EXPLAINED
When a vehicle is painted at the factory it starts as bare sheet metal. It then is sprayed with layers of primer, then the colored paint, and is finally topped off with clear coat. Clear coat was designed to provide protection to paint and also give the vehicle a glossy finish. Unfortunately, clear coat degrades through time because of environmental conditions such as UV rays, rain, industrial fall out, road grime, bird drops, and etc. If clear coat is left unprotected it will degrade to the point of failure which causes oxidation and chipping leaving your car looking dull and unpleasant. Paint protection was developed to protect the clear coat from the environment and keep your vehicle looking great. Paint protection comes in various different levels starting a carnauba waxes that protect for a couple months to ceramic coating which can provide years of protection.
Ceramic Coatings
Ceramic coatings are a liquid polymer that bonds to vehicle clear coat to create a semi permanent barrier between the environment and the clear coat/paint. Most ceramic coatings are 2 to 3 times harder than clear coat which aids in resisting marring and swirl marks. The chemicals that make up ceramic coatings protect the paintwork from uv rays that damage the appearance of the paintwork over time. The coating also protects the clear coat from harsh chemicals(salts,etc), bird droppings, bug guts, and more. When you have a ceramic coated vehicle the vehicle will have a cleaner appearance vs none coated cars. Another added benefit is, when it is time to clean the car, it has hydrophobic properties(water repellency) which aids in easier cleaning and drying.
Ceramic Coating Cost Explained
Installing ceramic coatings isn't as easy as the spray on versions or waxes. It starts with getting the vehicle's paintwork cleaned with multiple different soaps and chemicals to remove all dirt, minerals, iron particles, tree saps, tar, and more. This insures that the paint is COMPLETELY clean before polishing the vehicle. The next step is "buffing", "polishing", or "paint correction." This step is very time consuming and labor intensive. Not only is polishing necessary to promote the ceramic coating bonding to the clear coat but it also makes the paint look much better, even better than brand new/off the lot vehicles. Finally, after all the proper preparation steps, it is time to apply the ceramic. Applying the ceramic is kind of a tricky process because to apply it correctly you need to allow the coating to flash based on humidity and temperature. You can get unsatisfactory results if you buff(level) the coating too early or too late. A typical ceramic job takes several days to complete.
Consumer Grade Ceramic
Consumer Grade Ceramic coating are classified as ceramic coating that anyone can purchase. They are consumer grade mostly because they are easier to install than the pro level ceramics. Consumer grade ceramics are still a very good option to use. These are great for the person that wants ceramic but doesn't want to pay for the highest level ceramics. They will still provide years of protection, gloss, and hydrophobics!
C6 Professional Grade Ceramic
I've done lots of research and waited till I felt like I found the best ceramic coating on the market. I found it and am proud to be an official certified installer for C6 Professional Ceramic Coatings.
Professional ceramics are developed with everything consumer grade ceramics have but have a higher concentration level. This provides more protection, more longevity, and better gloss and hydrophobics. The higher concentration makes installing these coating more tricky. Companies that sell professional level ceramic coating only sell to installers that they trust has the experience and knowledge to ensure the product is installed correctly. Professional level ceramics are the best paint protection you can put on your vehicle, hands down!
Paint Wash/Decon/Basic Paint Protection
First we rinse your vehicle then coat your vehicle in snow foam to lift contaminates off the surface. We then hand wash using a three bucket method to avoid marring the paint. Once the surface is clean we remove iron particles, tar, and tree saps using chemical decon sprays. Finally we remove all chemicals, blow dry, and install a paint protection to leave a great shine!
Clay Bar Service
Clay Barring is a process using an engineered clay compound and lubricants to safely remove embedded contamination in the clear coat to give your paint more decontamination, slickness, and clear coat clarity/health.
This is an important paint prep step for proper paint protection performance and appearance.
Polishing/Paint Correction
The light swirl marks and scratches you see on vehicles are light reflections in the small imperfections of the vehicles clear coat. Polishing is the best way to make your paint look smooth and glossy. Polishing smoothes out the clear coat and reduces the imperfections so the light rays have nothing to get trapped into and reflect off of.
This is also an important paint prep step for proper paint protection performance and appearance.
Carnauba Wax
2 to 3 months
Carnauba Wax is the original form of Paint Protection. It comes from the carnauba plant and adds a warm gloss, water beading/sheeting, and some chemical resistance.
Paint Sealants
Up to 1 year
Paint Sealants are polymer based synthetic waxes that have more of a cool glow rather than the warm glow natural carnauba offers. However, paint sealants provide better chemical resistance and longevity.
Paint Sealants can be combined with carnauba waxes if you want to combine better longevity with warm glow.
SiO2 Ceramic Spray On
12 to 18 months
In short SiO2 Ceramic Spray On sprays are a diluted version of ceramic coatings that are easier to apply. SiO2 is a synthetic blend of ceramic coating and wax. SiO2 gives more chemical resistance than waxes and paint sealants, gives better hydrophobic properties(beading,sheeting), and longevity.
SiO2 makes the vehicle easier to clean, dry, and provides great gloss enhancement.
Wheel and Tire Cleaning
We use a high level wheel/tire cleaner, soft wheel brushes, and tire brushes. We remove brake dust, dirt, and grime from your wheels and tires. We always top off the service with a SiO2 ceramic spray on and basic no sling tire dressing.
Wheel Ceramic Coating
Up to 2 year Protection
If you want your wheels to have higher gloss, UV protection, make them easier to clean/dry, and give them hydrophobic properties a wheel ceramic coating is a great option especially for painted wheels. Wheel Ceramic Coatings are specifically designed to endure the high temperatures wheels go through.
Pro Level Tire Dressing
Life of tire*
The application of this product is not for the faint of heart(tire prep cleaning) but the results speak for themselves! Normal tire dressings/shines sling onto your paint, lasts a few days, and then leaves your tires looking brown. Our product bonds to the tire dry, gives a nice dark shine, provides UV protection, and lasts the life of the tire with proper maintenance.
Glass Cleaning
We use an ammonia free glass cleaner that won't damage your tinted windows.
Upgraded Glass Cleaning
Auto glass can get light scratch marks from wiper blades and etc. We use a special glass polish and polishing pad to remove light scratches and hard water spots to leave your glass crystal clear.
Glass Ceramic Coating
Up to 2 years
Normal rain repellant bought at big box stores only work for a couple weeks and also cause annoying wiper jutter. Our Glass Ceramic Coating is specially designed to resist wear from wiper blades and UV rays. Our product makes driving through rain storms much less stressful and provides better vision. This is one of our favorite products because of the safety benefits it provides our valued customers.
Interior Surface Cleaning/Protectant and Vacuuming
We throughly go through your interior and clean all parts of your car's interior using high quality products to achieve a nearly OEM factory look. We vacuum your carpets and use a carpet protectant to help aid in stain resistance.
Carpet Cleaning
We throughly scrub, wet vac/steam your vehicle's carpets using high strength cleaners to leave your carpets clean and smelling great!
Leather Ceramic Coating
Many modern cars already have a thin film on the leather. Too many people coat their modern leather with conditioners which cause the seats to attract even more grime. We throughly clean your leather using leather cleaner and apply our leather ceramic coating. This coating provides friction resistance to reduce cracking of the leather, clothing dye resistance, UV protection, and liquid protection.
Odor Reduction/Elimination
Smells can definitely ruin a great ride. We use a commercial ozone machine to kill odor causing bacteria and any trick of the trade to get that pesky odor out.
